Today was all about Vocations and reflecting on Bishop Patrick’s Diocesan Priority of Discipleship.
We began the day with the ‘Game of Life’ when students had 30 minutes to live their lives and earn life points. This was followed by an opportunity to explore the many ways that people have been called by God throughout the Bible and our 6th Formers helped us to bring these stories to life in the form of role plays. Next we heard about the real life Vocations of our visitors who represented many vocations such as the Police, the Priesthood, Married Life and Teaching to name a few!
Our afternoon was all about personal reflection and getting to grips with the many thoughts and ideas that we had heard about in the morning. We watched videos that helped us to think more deeply about Vocations and particularly the challenges that many of them bring. We then had the opportunity to discuss these with our friends before moving back into the Chapel to end our day in prayer. We prayed together the Diocesan prayer for Vocations that Fr Paul had kindly brought in for us and we were reminded, in a clip from Robert Madu, that God has given us everything we need to run the race that lies before us and to answer our calling.
If was a fantastic day to be a part of and we look forward to another event like this soon – let us know in the comments box below what you would like to do next!
