On Monday 6th June, students are permitted to come in to school in non-uniform however, they will be in normal lessons periods 1-5 and therefore will need all of their usual equipment for the school day including items such as: their PE kit (if required), books and equipment for lessons, locker keys, their planners and conduct cards.
We will gather together in the Chapel at 15:05, at the end of the school day, to remind students of expectations for the retreat, do any final trips to the toilet and finalise rooming arrangements before we depart at approximately 15:25 for The Briars, Crich Common, Crich, Derbyshire DE4 5BW https://www.ndcys.com/
Students are permitted to bring their mobile phones on the trip but it is done so at their own risk and they remain the students’ responsibility at all times. Our policy for all Briars Retreats is that students are not permitted to have their phones in their rooms overnight (this includes all other smart technology such as iPads and smart watches etc.). If students fail to comply with these rules, or any rules in the Behaviour Contract, then their phones and smart technology will be confiscated for the remainder of the trip and there may be further sanctions. Students will not be allowed to have their phones out during small group time, large group time or meal times and will only be allowed to use their phones during free time or when instructed otherwise. Students are expected to arrive on time for all events during the retreat and therefore will need a watch, and ideally an alarm clock for their bedrooms, for the times when they do not have access to their phones.
As space on the Coach will be limited we ask that students only pack one suitcase for the trip and try to keep its size to a minimum! For the retreat they will need:
comfortable clothing (each day of the retreat will provide opportunities for times of prayer therefore all clothing must be appropriate and respectful at all times).
sensible, flat trainers for trip to bowling on the Wednesday
on Thursday evening we will have a celebration of Mass and a form of entertainment whereby students may wish to bring smarter/party wear.
a watch and an alarm clock
Hairdryer (if required)
Toiletries (aerosols are not permitted due to sensitive smoke detectors in bedrooms, please bring roll-on deodorant only)
Clothing and footwear for a countryside walk during the visit (ie wellies/ walking boots/ old trainers, a waterproof and trousers that can get muddy)
