This week’s word of the week is Sacrifice. We enter into Holy week this week too, the most important and dramatic week of the year in the church. The week that we walk in the footsteps of Jesus and head toward the cross on Good Friday and witness the resurrection on Easter Sunday.

This Sunday just past is Palm Sunday. The day when we remember Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem. He was praised and welcomed only to be condemned a week later and sentenced to death.

This week in our forms and especially in out Easter Liturgies on Friday we are going to reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice for us. How he gave his life to save ours and what it actually means to be a Christian. We are going to explore the very root of our faith and try to understand just what it means for our lives today.

We are going to hear the greatest story every told and we are going to be challenged to write the next chapter.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Before you watch this week’s Word of the Week, Get your planners out and check how you did with your mission of sacrifice over the weekend. Did you manage to complete the challenge you set for yourself last Thursday?

Lord, help us to walk with you this Holy Week Amen

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

What do we do this week that makes it special?

In your forms have a think about what you’ll be doing at the weekend? Share the different Easter Weekends that you’ll have and talk about the way in which you as a family will be celebrating.

Lord, help us to find a way to connect with our Faith this week. Amen

Today is Maundy Thursday. The start of the Easter Triduum and the day when we remeber the Last Supper.

Have a watch of the video below and try and think what it must have been like to be around that table on that night 2000 years ago. This video is in Aramaic, the language Jesus would have used so in some way’s it is closer to reality than we usually get!

This video also begins the story of the Easter Liturgies, which everyone will attend today. The liturgies will be a chance to live the story with Jesus and look at the events directly after this video takes place.

Lord, help us to think upon your sacrifice and celebrate your resurrection this Easter. Amen.
