Over half term we celebrated the feast of All Saints’ and we are continuing the celebrations this week!

The Saints are a fascinating part of our church history and tradition. A saint is one of those men and women who in their life, and often their death, set us an example of how to live a life for God. They were not all perfect however! Often they made bad choices and mistakes in their lives before turning back to God. They give hope to us all that we can be better people and that, one day, we may become saints ourselves!

  • Mass will take place in the Chapel every Friday during form-time. Make your way straight to the Chapel from period 2 if you wish to attend.
  • If any of you have completed your Christmas card entry for our competition then please give to Vicki ASAP.

Why do Catholic’s pray to Saints’?

What is taking place in nature around the time of Halloween that might make us think about death more?

Could it be that we are seeing leaves falling from the trees or the nights getting darker?

People find death frightening because it seems to be the end of life. So at Halloween we make light of death. With our costumes, parties, and decorations, we try to make death less Frightening. But as Christians, we know that death is not the end. We have eternal life through Jesus’ death and Resurrection. That is why the Church celebrates two important feasts this time of year, All Saints and All Souls.

Take a minute to write the name of the saint which you learnt about last night and  perhaps an interesting fact about them.
