On the feast of Christ the King, every year, the Church focuses on its young people and celebrates everything that you bring to the world. Youth is not just about age however – it’s about our attitude. Anyone can be youthful if they fill their lives with joy and excitement.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.
We are going to do a couple minutes of meditation in forms today to try and get everyone in the right frame of mind for the day. It is very rare that you get a moment of quiet throughout the day to reflect. Hopefully this gives us an opportunity to do so.
Start by getting in a comfortable position for YOU, not for anyone else, but for you. It is important to close your eyes, relax your shoulders, be aware of your inner core at work and reflect on the words that you are going to repeat. You repeat and reflect on a phrase for a couple of minutes, saying it over and over again in your head. This phrase is called a MANTRA. See how it fits into your life, could this become a bigger part of your life, how important are certain things to you. Once this has been completed, we just end this time of quiet with the sign of the cross. Start with a minute of meditation and build it up if you feel appropriate.

Bishop Patrick has asked us all to think about the word Encounter during Advent. It is not a word that we often think about or say in our day to day lives. Sometimes we don’t even know that we are encountering Jesus or being an encounter for somebody else to find Jesus.
Talk to the person next to you and reflect on the questions and thoughts below.
Where have you encountered Jesus in your life?

Think of one extra thing you could do during Advent to encounter Jesus.

Last week, our Sixth Form were at the Briars with Sixth Form students from the Becket and Trinity school. It was a great few days where the theme explored was significance. It looked at our significance in our world and was helped by various clips from the film The Greatest Showman. Recognising our own significance is a tricky thing, realising how important we are in God’s eyes is not an easy thing to do. But staying true to who you are and how God made you is important, as we are all made in God’s image and likeness. What God thinks is all that matters.
Don’t talk to the person next to you, it’s time to talk to God.
Tell him how significant you feel. And if you don’t, ask him to show you just how significant you are, because we are all truly special.
