Prayer Resources – Week 6

Can you believe it’s the last week of term! It’s been a fantastic term with lots to celebrate.

Our theme for this week is “Our responsibility to our world!”

Monday

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

This weekend saw Becket staff take to the fields, roads and lakes of Nottingham for the Men’s Health Survival of the fittest. If you want an idea of what they did, have a look at this!

But the question is why? Why put yourself through that? Why would anyone do that? Well they were running for charity – The Glenfield Heart Unit, which has special significance for us at The Becket. Doing something difficult is is often easier when we do it for a reason. I know when I was in the middle of the lake it helped having a reason to do it! So today, Your  job in your AOW is to think of something that you care about, and most importantly what you do to help/support it?

Morning Prayer: Lord give us the strength to do difficult things for others! Amen

Prayer at the end of the day:

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Think for a moment about the things you’ve done today .Have you done anything for a good cause? There’s still plenty of time today to do something good, so think maybe about what you can do on your way home to work for something important.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Tuesday

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have a read of this story together:

A young girl was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement.

She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, “Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!”

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied,

“Well, I made a difference to that one!”

Morning Prayer: Lord help us to realise the power we have and the change we can make. Amen

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Who has  made a difference to you today? Spend a few moments to thank God for that person and what they did for you.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Wednesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

It’s been a while since we’ve had a photo to think about and this image seemed kind of perfect for this week. (Click to enlarge)

This is the earth from Space. A view we’ve never been able to have until relatively recently. Many of the people lucky enough to go into space speak about the humbling experience of seeing our planet from above. What does this image make you feel? God made everything and everyone and gave us the planet as a gift. Do we appreciate the planet we live on?

Morning Prayer: Lord help us to realise how luky we are and not take your world for granted. Amen

Prayer at the end of the day

Think about something beautiful you’ve seen today and thank God for it.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Thursday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

This is a 2 part AOW – The second part is tomorrow Morning!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGyHaDrbkvc

This is a clip from the film Pay it forward. The film starts with a teacher giving his class an assignment – the same assignment that you as a form are going to tackle. You have until tomorrow to come up with your plan and most importantly to figure out how to put it into action. – Put your idea up somewhere in your form room.

If you have any awesome ideas leave them in the comments below.

Morning Prayer: Lord, give us the confidence to realise that we can make a difference. Amen

Prayer at the end of the day:

We start with the sign of the cross.

Think about the ideas you had this morning. Would they work? Does want us to change the world?

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

 Friday

We start with the sign of the cross.

Trevor’s idea. So following on from yesterdays AOW, here is the idea Trevor came up with.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TghkityJ4u8

Do you think it would work? Your mission today is to try and pay it forward and to put your plan from yesterday into action. Or you could of course find three people who you can help with something they couldn’t do on their own and pay it forward just like Trevor!

Morning Prayer: Lord, thank you for your gift of love and life. Help us share that gift with others. Amen

Prayer and the end of the day:

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Today is about celebrating those people who’ve been there for us, but think about those people who over the weekend, will look after and care for you. Give thanks for them.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
