week4boysgirlsLast week we looked at Empathy – how we can understand how other people feel. It hopefully wasn’t too hard to think of the things that we had in common with other members of our school community. For many of us, hopefully we can remember what it was like to be in another year group.  This week however might be a bit more challenging as we are going to try and understand a bit more about the opposite sex!

It’s often a case of “Boy’s V Girls.” – Who’s better at different things etc. But this week were are going to try and appreciate each other a bit better and look at some of the best male and female role models.

Monday

BigQuestion750

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Being able to understand each other is never easy. It’s often hard to see the problems of others when faced with your own.

Your big question for today is this:

[colorvote id=”13″ style=”wpcvp-poll”]

It’s a tough question! Think about why you gave your answer and discuss it together.

Morning Prayer: Help us to understand each other better. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you appreciated anyone today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Tuesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

For men and women to get along it’s all about respect. If we can respect and celebrate each other then we will soon realise that we are stronger together.

Your task this morning:

paper-chain-people

Give everybody a strip of paper and ask them to write their name on it.

Spend a few moments thinking about one way in which you can respect the other people in your form and write it on the link.

If you have time link the pieces of paper together to make a chain (If you don’t then just collect the strips)

Bring the chain (or strips of paper) down to the chapel at break or lunch so we can make a massive chain of everyone’s ideas!

Spend a few moments in silence thinking about how you can put your idea into action.

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us respect each other and realise that we are stronger together. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Has some one treated you with respect today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Thursday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Today for our PSHCE we’re going to look at how men and women are treated.

Use the Key Process of “Put yourself on the line” to explore the following statement.

“Men and Women have equal rights.”

In St Paul’s letter to the Galations he say’s “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” The question is how can we make that a reality in our world?

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us value each other equally. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Who do you value and how do you show it?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Friday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

On a Friday we always reflect on Scripture and this week as we are looking at Gender lets listen to one of the most famous lines from the Bible.

The Greatest Commandment – Gospel of Matthew

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Above all this week is about how we love each other and that we are all of equal value in God’s eyes. How can we show love to others?

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to love each other for who we are. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

How can you show love to others this weekend?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.
