This week is all about belonging. Our ‘Word of the Week’ reminds us that we are actually all part of something special. We belong to much more than a school, we belong to a community and that means we can rely on others for love and support when we need it the most. It also means that we’ve got a responsibility to play our part and look out for those people who need our help and support.

With that in mind we’ve got our first House Act’s of Worship this week on Thursday and Friday. The House System is something really important to belong to, and to be proud of! Belonging to a House means that you have something in common with people in every year and every part of the school.

(As you’ll all be missing a morning for your House Act’s of worship you can use the prayer resources for either of the day’s on the labels!)

Monday

We begin with the Sign of the Cross

It’s time for our “Word of the Week” watch the video above and check out for the notices at the bottom of the screen – don’t forget to leave your comments below!

After the video above has finished, spend a few moments to think about the things that make you feel like you belong at school.

Lord, help us to recognise when we are called to do something for others. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross

Tuesday/Wednesday

If you’ve not had chance to watch the ‘Word of the Week’ video above – watch that first!

We begin with the Sign of the Cross

Have a watch of the flip clip above

This clip is from the film Divergent. As it says in the video the world they live in has been divided into factions, 5 communities, where people are grouped with others who think and act like they do. Supposedly everyone is meant to belong to a particular faction, but just like real life it can be difficult to fit in and feel like you belong in one particular place.

The five factions focus on honesty, bravery, peace, intelligence and selflessness. Which faction do you think you would be in?

Have a talk with your form about the following questions

How easy is it to belong in school?
Do you think the world would be a better place if everyone lived with people like just like them?
Are your friends the same kind of person as you?
Do you feel like you belong?

Lord, help us to feel like we belong and know who we are. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross

Wednesday/Thursday

We begin with the Sign of the Cross

population_hiWe all belong to different cultures and communities but right now we’re in the UK. The question is – how much do we really know about who lives here? Our PSHCE topic is all about being yourself but often who we are depends on where we are!

This week use the Key Process of “Expert Groups” to explore the following information about our population.

Download the fact sheet here -or visit the online version here: Population Infographic

Lord, help us to feel like we belong. Amen.

Thursday/Friday

We begin with the Sign of the Cross

As you know, we are going to use the Scripture from this Sunday’s Gospel to reflect on every Friday. If you are in KS 3/4 You can use your planners to to help you understand the scripture.

This year we want to bring the Word of God to life on a Friday morning to help us reflect and understand scripture a little bit better, so with the help of our school community a different person each week will read our Gospel and share what it means to them. Use your planners to help you discuss and explore the story further.

Lord, help us to know who we are. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.
