191qiwc5rq1qrjpgIt’s a really big week in our Diocese this week. on Friday the 3rd of July our Bishop Elect Mgr Patrick McKinney will be Installed at the 10th Bishop of Nottingham. We’re really excited about this new chapter in the life of our Diocese and we’re already looking forward to September for a special welcome mass with all the School in our Diocese coming together to meet our new Bishop for the first time!

It’s also a bit week in school too. We’ve got the elections for Senior Student and 6th form committee taking place – and we’ve got our 24 hour Lourdes fundraiser taking place on Thursday and Friday in the plaza (You’ll find out more about that later!)

With all that going on this wee’s word of the week is ‘Leadership!’ How can we lead and inspire others in the same way Jesus leads and inspires us? Think about what you can do this week to be a leader!

If you’ve not checked out the ‘Word of the week’ the you can watch it above!

Have a look at this – it talks about what real leadership is to various people.

Who are the people who you look to for leadership?

Split into 2 teams and write a list of the examples of good and bad leadership.

Share the lists with each others.

The team with the biggest list (with reasons) wins!

Lord, help us to lead like you did. Amen.

Write in the comments box below what the one thing you think makes a good leader – Was it a quality Jesus had?

Lord, help us to lead those around us to make the world a better place. Amen.

18ix96dqdub6yjpgFor our PSHCE this week we are continuing to look at how we look after ourselves and lead a healthy lifestyle.

This week using the Key Process of “Put Yourself on the Line” to debate the following statement

The government shouldn’t tell us what to eat and put limits on our diet.

Lord, help us to look after ourselves and stay healthy. Amen.

Lourdes-5As you know, we are going to use the Scripture from this Sunday’s Gospel to reflect on every Friday. If you are in KS 3/4 You can use your planners to to help you understand the scripture.

Mark 6:1-6

Jesus went to his home town and his disciples accompanied him. With the coming of the sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue and most of them were astonished when they heard him. They said, ‘Where did the man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been granted him, and these miracles that are worked through him? This is the carpenter, surely, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joset and Jude and Simon? His sisters, too, are they not here with us?’ And they would not accept him. And Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is only despised in his own country, among his own relations and in his own house’; and he could work no miracle there, though he cured a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

KS 3 /4 – Have a read of the explanation in your planner and answer the questions with your friends.

Finish the morning by praying the prayer you find at the bottom of the page.

Lord, help us to stand up for what we believe. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.
