This week we will be thinking about the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. His death and resurrection are at the heart of our faith and they are the reason that we have our school and our Church today. We are called to make sacrifices too, not necessarily to give our lives, but maybe to give our time, or our love or our compassion.

Think about the people who make sacrifices for you and what that means to you.

Think about how you can make sacrifices for others this week.

Notices - NEW

  • There is a Y9 Briars meeting in the Chapel at 12:15 on Wednesday – everyone who is going on the trip must attend. If you have decided that you are no longer going to The Briars then you must see Joe or Marsha today to confirm this.
  • The Faith in Action deadline has been extended but your Journals and Final Pieces must be handed into the Chapel by Thursday this week at the latest!
  • Mass this Friday is a special celebration in memory of Alphin Abraham, a former student of The Becket School who sadly passed away a year ago. Her family and other visitors will be gathering in the Chapel for Mass at 12:15 on Friday and all staff and students are very welcome to come along for this Mass. Students must reserve food in advance via the list in the Chapel if they want food from the Canteen after the Mass.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

We end by making the Sign of the Cross.

Today we will be completing an activity that harmonises with what many of our Catholic Churches will do this weekend. Follow the instructions in the video and then use the prayer below to help us focus on our Lenten journey.

Help us Lord to focus on you as we complete the final 2 weeks of our Lenten journey. As the signs of your Son are covered may we shine brighter to show the love and mercy of Jesus Christ through our words and actions.

Amen

On Thursday lunchtime we will be going around the school to cover any of the crucifixes that are not in Form rooms – if you’d like to help out then meet us in the Chapel at 12:15, there will be time to get your lunch afterwards.

We end with the Sign of the Cross.

Friday will mark a year since our much loved 6th Form student, Alphin Abraham passed away.

Last year we dressed in Alphin’s favourite colour – red – to raise funds for a charity close to her heart – The Shanti Bhavan school in India. If you’ve not heard of it before then this advert for the Netflix series about the school will give you an idea of what they do.

Tomorrow we will gather together as a community to remember Alphin during our lunchtime Mass and to pray for her and her family. At the end of the Mass there will be the opportunity to contribute towards another fantastic cause that Alphin supported – the Rumbletums Cafe in Kimberley.

RumbletumsRumbletums Café is both a Community Café and a supported training project for young people with a learning disability, some of whom may also have an additional physical disability. This local group support those in need by providing them with important and practical skills which may help them to get a job later in life. If you would like to support this cause then please bring in some money to donate at the end of Mass tomorrow.

Help us Lord to continue Alphin’s happy and positive attitude in all that we do today. May we strive to make the world a better place and to treasure every moment of our lives.

Amen

If you are coming to the Mass tomorrow and would like to order food from the Canteen afterwards then please make sure you have reserved it by signing up in the Chapel no later than Friday break.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

As always we take time in our week to listen to Sunday’s Gospel.
