God gave himself to the world, not as a powerful king but as a tiny baby. He brought a message of peace and humility to a world that needed it more than ever. Think this week about the peace in our world. Does everybody live in the peaceful communities that we do?

This week let’s try and remember that during Advent we are called to bring the peace of Christ to everyone we meet.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

We end by making the Sign of the Cross.

Peace can mean different things to different people.

Some may think ‘peace and quiet’ others ‘peace and not war’.

At this time of year are we too ‘busy’ to find peace?

Are we too busy to welcome into our lives the Prince of Peace – Jesus?

Please watch this video clip and think about where you can find some peace this Advent.

Where will you find some peace this Advent?

We end with the Sign of the Cross.

One charity that is always striving for peace in our world is CAFOD. Through times of war or natural disasters CAFOD and its partners works hard to bring Gods love, joy, hope and peace to those who need it most.

Read this CAFOD prayer together as a form then spend some time discussing what we can do to help bring peace to global community, add your ideas to the comments box below.

The gift of peace – CAFOD

May God give wisdom and courage
to those who work for peace.
We pray that their efforts may be blessed,
that they may bring an end to violence
and solace and stability to suffering peoples.

May the gift of peace permeate all troubled souls,
convert all who live by violence
and comfort all children who live in menacing situations,
that the freedom to enjoy life and grow in safety may be theirs.

And may each one of us know
peace of mind and heart,
peace of body and spirit,
peace of community and world.

Holy Spirit of Peace, grant our prayer.

Amen.

One way we can bring some Peace into our lives this Advent in through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Please watch this video that explains it a little further.

Before we receive this Sacrament we need to take some time to look at our own lives and how we can make changes for the better.

Take some time to slowly read these questions and answe them in your head.

This is called an Examination of Conscience …

Have I prayed recently?
Have I asked the Holy Spirit to help me whenever I have been tempted to sin?
Have I asked the Holy Spirit to help me do what is right?Have I been respectful to my parents?
Have I lied or been deceitful to them or to others?
Have I been arrogant, stubborn or rebellious?
Have I talked back to adults?
Have I been moody?
Have I been selfish toward my parents, brothers, and sisters, teachers, or my friends and schoolmates?
Did I get angry at them?
Have I held grudges or not forgiven others?
Have I treated others with respect or have I made fun of them and called them names?
Have I been helpful and loving towards my family?
HaveI been kind and generous with my friends?

If you feel like changes need to be made, now is the perfect time. Try getting to Confession this Advent season. Your local church will have times on their website.
