We often give up things for Lent but fasting is not just about going without chocolate. It’s about going without something you don’t need to focus on the things you do. You might fast from watching TV or going on your phone and spend more time with your family and friends. What can you give up for lent that will help you understand the really important things in your life?

This week is also Lenten Fundraising. It’s a time to help those people in need and we could perhaps bring some of the money we’ve saved by fasting to help those people at Emmanuel House and in Bunkpurugu

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

As the girls challenged you to do this morning; think about what you could give up to make some time for something a bit more important this week!

Lord, help us to go without so others can have what they need. Amen

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

You may have heard the phrase “put your money where you mouth is”. It’s about backing up what you say by coming through on your promises.

This week we are going without to help those in need and sometimes when we make sacrifices it helps us to appreciate how lucky we are.

What are you going to do? What can you going to sacrifice to help others?

We want you to make a pledge this morning as to how much money you are going to raise as a form on Thursday’s Lenten fundraising and to proudly display that in your form windows.

Obviously not everyone can bring in the same amount, so don’t ask people individually how much they will bring, instead start with a round number like £25 and then decide weather you think you can bring more or less than that as a combined form total.

Place your pledge, along with a few ideas as to what you’d like it to be used for, on a sheet of A4 Paper and pop it next to your whiteboard so everyone who has a lesson can be inspired to raise as much as possible!

Before you finish spend a few moments in silence thinking about what your money can achieve and tanking God that we can make sacrifices to help others.

Lord, help us to be generous. Help us to take less and give more. Amen

This afternoon is Lenten fundraising. It’s about making sacrifices to help others. Check this out:

Your money today will make a really difference to peoples lives. It starts with a sacrifice and ends with the world being a better place.

Spend a few minutes in silence thinking about what you’re doing today. Think about how much fun you’ll have and how your joy will actually bring joy to the people we will help.

Lord, help us to have a fantastic Lenten fundraising. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Understanding the people we will help is a way of understanding what Lenten fundraising is all about. The money we raise is not just for feeding mouths but for feeding minds.

Before we embark on our activities let’s pray together.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

As always we take time to listen to a reading of Sunday’s Gospel to help us reflect on what God is saying to us.

Watch this animation of this week’s scripture – what is it saying to us?

Take some time to think about what God is saying to you.

Lord, help us to listen to your word and hear your voice in our lives. Amen
