This week we think about our school community. Our open evening next week reminds us that our community changes and grows all the time and every person who comes to our school brings something special and unique.

How can you look out for those in our community who we sometimes overlook – how can we show them they are an important part of our school community?

  • Chaplaincy Team Application Forms can be collected from the letter rack outside the Chapel door and are due in by Friday this week.
  • Confirmations are taking place this year in Long Eaton Parish. If you are in Y8 or above then the next meeting is on Saturday 6th October. Get in touch with Christina for more details:
  • We are continuing to film the School Music Video this week, make sure you come down ready with ideas so that you don’t miss out!
  • We have Mass on Friday lunchtime as usual so pop to the Chapel to reserve your lunch for afterwards and to collect a Mass Pass.
  • There is a Mass for Altar Servers and their families with Bishop Patrick on Saturday 22nd Sept (this weekend) at St Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham at 11am. Servers from all Parishes are welcome to attend and should be in the Cathedral Hall, vested and ready by 10:45am.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Take some time now to share with the people around you what it is that you love about The Becket Community that you are part of – it could even be them!

We end by making the Sign of the Cross.

Part of The Becket Community are our House communities that are a big part of our School experience.

Next week, not only will we have our first House AoW of the school year but we will also have one of our first House Competitions – the Languages quiz! Watch this video to find out more!

So, every form needs to send one representative that can compete in the Languages Quiz on Weds 26th September at lunchtime next week. Spend some time deciding who that will be from your form now! You might even want to look up St Gottschalk, the patron Saint of the Languages Department, for some inspiration before the quiz.

Make sure you check out when your House AoW will be next week and make a note of the day and location in your planner now!

Our School community is part of a wider diocesan community – the Nottingham Diocese.

Across the Diocese there are many different parishes and we have parishes connected to our school.

See if you can work out the names of all of the Parish communities that are linked to our school community and then share your answers with the community by leaving them in the comments box below.

As part of one Diocese it’s important to have strong links between our School and our Parishes and we need your help!

For every Parish we need some Parish Ambassadors from each year group who can help to continue our links. Their role will include delivering school news to the Parish Church and bringing back Newsletters and information about the Parish to share with our school.

If you are interested in putting your faith into action by getting involved then visit Joe or Marsha in the Chapel so we can sign you up and let you know about your first bit of news to pass on!

As always we take time in our week to listen to Sunday’s Gospel.

Take some time to think about some of the decisions that you have coming up in your life and turn to God for guidance through prayer.
