How often do we accept the challenges from God and follow Jesus? As Christians, we face many challenges along our faith journey and we can look to the inner strength that is given to us by God so that we are able to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Think this week about the challenges you face and who you can ask for help.

The 6th February marks the feast day of St Paul Miki and his companions. Watch this video to discover the incredible challenges that they faced simply for standing up for their faith.

Whilst we are able to safely attend a Catholic School without fear of the persecution that St Paul Miki and his companions faced there are still many around the world who do not enjoy the same respect and freedoms. Spend some time praying for all those who face harm, or even death, because of their faith.

Lord, so great is our love for You
That even though we walk in a world
where speaking Your name can mean certain death
Your faithful still speak it
And speak it all the louder.

Help us work for a world where all may speak their creeds
And pray their prayers
Without fear of violence.
Hear the prayers of those who abide with You
in dangerous times
and in dark valleys,
And who die with Your name on their lips.
Draw them quickly to Your side
Where they might know eternal peace.

Amen.
