This week we are thinking all about Prayer! Prayer is when you talk to God, and it is a special time for us.

Our first song is there to help us prepare for prayer, it’s a lovely one for you to create actions to as well!

This song is based on the Our Father prayer. Have a listen to it and then see if you can say the Our Father prayer that is underneath!

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, Amen.

There are lots of types of prayers, you can have prayers to say thank you, prayers to say sorry and prayers to ask for things. Can you use the templates below to write your own prayer?

Thank You Prayer:

Dear God,

Thank you for…

Amen.

Sorry Prayer:

Dear God,

I am sorry for…

Amen.

Asking Prayer:

Dear God,

Please can you…

Amen.

EYFS – Practice making the sign of the cross : “In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.”

Y1/2 – Practice saying the Our Father Prayer : “Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, Amen.”

Prayer is just like having a chat with God. In this story God is speaking to Samuel but he doesn’t realise that it is God that is calling! Try and take some time today to pray and have a chat with God.

King David used to say prayers often! He would pray to God to say thank you for all that He did for him. Watch this video all about David’s prayers.
