On Thursday 21st June, the Trust came together at Corpus Christi Church in Clifton to celebrate all the hard work that the schools had been doing in order to raise money for Ghana. This is the project ‘Building Hope in Bunkpurugu’ which the Trust has been supporting in order for a new school to be built.
At the start of the Mass, children from each school came up to tell everyone present about what they had been doing in order to help raise money for Bunkpurugu. Beautiful artwork was designed to be proudly presented in each school and they had also created some scrapbook pages which showed all of the great work they had been doing over the last year for Ghana.
Each school had a part to play in the Mass, with the Penitential Rite, Responsorial Pslam, Intercessions, Gospel Reflection and Thank You Prayers all being led by children from each primary school.
Students from the Becket Sixth Form led the beautiful music and students from the other year groups were well represented through the readings, the offertory and the altar servers. All of the Becket students were a fine example and can be very proud.
It was an absolutely beautiful celebration of what is a very strong and united Trust. The Becket, Blessed Robert Widmerpool, English Martyrs’, Our Lady and Saint Edward’s, Saint Edmund Campion and Saint Patrick’s can all be very proud of how they behaved, how they led the Mass and also how prayerful they were throughout the entire morning.
A massive thanks must go to Father Wilfred and all at Corpus Christi parish who welcomed us. The celebration could not have happened without you and your kindness was greatly appreciated.
It was the Feast day of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, who is the patron Saint of young students and all Christian youth, and we ask that he continues to look after all the young people in our schools and guides them in the future.
Patron of Youth,
Please help me to believe in God, even when I feel unsure or doubtful.
Help me to believe that Jesus is there for me, especially when I feel pressured, judged, alone, sad, or guilty.
Guard and protect me always, that I may choose to be pure and true to God and others, and so bring honour and glory to God.
O Mary, Virgin most pure, pray for us.
St Aloysius Gonzaga, Pray for us
