“Go then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age

MATTHEW 28:19-20

The word of the week is Missionary Discipleship

Missionary Discipleship is one of the three themes that Bishop Patrick asks us to explore and grow in as a Diocese. The first is Encounter, the second is Discipleship and the third is Missionary Discipleship. With the help and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we can all become Missionary Disciples. As Missionary Disciples, we seek to be faith-filled, joyful and outward looking Christians who bear witness to Jesus’ love and serve our brothers and sisters.

Today is the Feast Day of The English Martyrs

English Martyrs stood up for their faith and gave their lives so that Catholicism could be preserved.

Leader/Young person: Let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Tranquil Tuesday

Welcome back everyone, we hope you had a great bank holiday weekend! This week’s resources are brought to us by Christ the King school.

Below is a meditation from a book called ’42’ by Matt Summerfield and Pete Gilbert. It is read by Coragh in Year 9 at CTK.

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

As we enter into the month of May, the month of Mary, let us ask for Our Lady’s prayers and support as we say the Hail Mary together…

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Wednesday Word

Today we have a Scripture reflection on the Good Shepherd story from John’s Gospel led by Wisdom in Year 10 from CTK School.

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

Jesus said: ‘I am the good shepherd’

Good Shepherd watch over us today in all we face and experience.

Never leave us or forsake us and journey with us always.

Good Shepherd, You know us as no-one else knows us.

Guard us and keep us,

As You guard and keep those whom we love.

Good Shepherd, we pray for the sick and the lonely;

For the anxious and the bereaved; for those whose pain is beyond our comprehension.

We stand with them and commend them to Your care.

Good Shepherd, we pray for the carers in hospitals and in homes and for all who serve the needs of others.

May the example of living compassion inspire us in our care for others.

Good Shepherd, You know the depths of our heart and the fears which are ours.

Speak into the depths of our heart and calm our fears.

Good Shepherd, You know us by our name and our identity is not hidden from You.

Gather us to Yourself as a shepherd gathers the sheep, that we might know Your Name.

Amen.

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thoughtful Thursday

Today we have a thought provoking prayer led by Abigail Brogan from Year 7 at Christ the King…

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

Dear Lord,

during these difficult times we have faced,

we hope that we keep You close to our hearts

and recognise the sacrifices You made in losing Your Son to help and support us.

Amen.

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Happy Friday everyone!

Leader/Young person: Let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

God has created me to do Him some definite service.

He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another.

I have my mission.

I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next.

I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons.

He has not created me for naught.

I shall do good; I shall do His work.

I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it if I do but keep His commandments.

Amen.

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
