Live Stream Mass and the Re-opening of Churches

Re-opening of Churches

On Saturday 6th June we heard the brilliant news that Catholic churches that can safely re-open may do so for private and individual prayer from 15th June 2020.

Cardinal Nichols hopes people will benefit from the ‘sacredness’ of our church spaces and describes it as a “great blessing for individuals and for the benefit of all in society, that church doors will again be open to all who long to pray there for the peace and grace we need today.”

Bishop Patrick shares a message and a brief tour with the people of the diocese on the reopening of Nottingham Cathedral for private prayer on Monday 15th June 2020.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

When Catholics are unable to attend Mass and/or are in circumstances when they cannot receive Jesus in Sacramental communion, it is possible to make an Act of Spiritual Communion.

Acts of Spiritual Communion increase our desire to receive Sacramental Communion and help us feel closer to Jesus during these times when we cannot attend Mass in our Churches.

Spiritual Communion Prayer

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,

Come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there

And unite myself wholly to you.

Never permit me to be separated from you.
