When we think of treasure we usually think of pirates with gold and jewels but that is not what we are talking about here. We are talking about the special things in our lives. These may be the people that we know like our friends and family, or it might be the objects that we are lucky enough to have like food, shelter and water. Throughout the week think about what the treasure would be in your treasure chest.
As we think about the treasure that we have this week we must remember to give thanks to God. God has created this beautiful world and all of the wonderful things in it, we should treasure them and take care them just as God asked us to.

Today we are going to hear a song which explains to us that the Bible is the treasure. It has lots of precious words from God that make us feel special and loved.
The song finishes at 1 minute, 30 seconds so you can stop it early there!
What did the song say that you can see inside the Bible when you read it?
Can you think of any other precious words that you know from the Bible? Are there any stories that tell us important things for our own lives?
The Bible, and the words from God that are in it, are very precious to us all. We should always respect the treasure that we have in knowing that God loves us and that He will always care for us.
A man called Saint Augustine said that singing is like praying twice.
Learn the words to this song and create some actions to go with it.
As your prayer today sing this song and remember all of the treasure that God has given us in the beautiful world that we live in.

What do you think all of these people are queuing for?
Why do you think they are queuing?
They are queuing for water!
We are lucky enough to have water whenever we need it but it is still very precious.
We drink water, we clean with water, we wash in water, we water our plants and give it to our animals to drink. Without water we would be lost!
Like everything else in our world, God created the water.
As we hear in the book of Isaiah, God will provide our water when we need it:
When my people in their need look for water, when their throats are dry with thirst, then I, the Lord, will answer their prayer; I, the God of Israel, will never abandon them. I will make rivers flow among barren hills and springs of water run in the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water and the dry land into flowing springs.
(Isaiah 41: 17-18)
There are many people in our world who do not have the precious treasure that is water. The people in the picture above were queuing for water because there had been a flood and that had made all of their precious water dirty.
We cannot always give out water to those people who need it because they may be very far away on the other side of the world but we can give money to charity, or we can pray for them.
Lord, please take care of those people who do not have the precious water that they need.
Help us to do whatever we can to save water so we can help other people who need it.

This week’s action is based on some scripture from Luke’s Gospel:
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom.Sell all your belongings and give the money to the poor. Provide for yourselves purses that don’t wear out, and save your riches in heaven, where they will never decrease, because no thief can get to them, and no moth can destroy them. For your heart will always be where your riches are.
(Luke 12: 32-34)
This scripture is telling us to make our hearts rich instead of making ourselves rich by getting lots of money and toys.
We make our hearts rich by doing good things and helping others.
These are the things that will be important in heaven when we are with God. They will never get old like toys and clothes sometimes do.
To check that you can remember the scripture there is now a crossword for you to complete on the interactive whiteboard!

Did you know that you are sat in a room with treasure in it right now?
Watch this video and see if you can work out where the treasure is in the room right now.
This video finishes at 2 minutes, 27 seconds so you can stop it early there.
So, as the video tells us, we are all special!
Treasure is something that is special to us.
We are all special to someone. We are special to our friends, we are special to our families, we are special to our teachers and all the staff at our schools.
You are the treasure in the room right now because you are special to many many people! Do not forget how important you are!
Think of the reasons why you are a special treasure.
Is it because you have a huge smile?
Is it because you give great hugs?
Is it because you always say kind things?
Write down one reason that you are special and important on a piece of paper. If you are finding it tricky maybe you could ask other people why they think you are special and important?
Take pictures of you holding your piece of paper which says why you are special.
You could display your photos somewhere so that you never forget that you are important and special to someone and always special to God who made you.
As God said to Jeremiah:
I chose you before I gave you life, and before you were born I selected you to be a prophet to the nations
We are all special to God and he has given us each a job to do in our lives.
Try to be a treasure to others, God’s precious gift in this wonderful world.

This week our Scripture comes from Matthew’s Gospel and explains a Parable that was told by Jesus.
Watch the video or read the scripture below.
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
(Glory to you O Lord)
The Kingdom of heaven is like this. A man happens to find a treasure hidden in a field. He covers it up again, and is so happy that he goes and sells everything he has, and then goes back and buys that field.
The Gospel of the Lord.
(Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ)
Matthew 13: 44
God and the Kingdom of heaven are the greatest treasures that we could ever find.
The man in the Parable who discovers the buried treasure had to sell everything that he owned to make sure that he could have the treasure.
This is like us in our lives, we have to do everything that we can to find our greatest treasures.
We become closer to God and God’s kingdom by being like Jesus.
Think about how we can be more like Jesus.
Could we be kind to other people?
Could we share things with others?
Could we help people when they need a friend?
We must try really hard to be like Jesus all the time so that we can have the treasure in our lives.
Please help us Lord to live in the right way and to do good things.
Help us to always show love to the people we meet and to our brothers and sisters all over the world.
