We are on the 3rd week of Advent already and this week it is all about Joy! Jesus began as a little baby in a manger but He brought so much joy to the world in everything that He did. To help us to think about the birthday of Jesus we are going to be doing lots of joyful things this week!
We will start by listening to a very fun song which tells us the story of Jesus’ birth and in our Picture Resource we will put your narrating skills to the test by seeing how well you can explain what happened when Jesus was born.
Just as we give cards to people on their birthdays our Action will involve making a very special card for Jesus and our Video will help us to think about what people need to know about the world on their birthdays.
Finally, we will hear how Joseph found out that Mary was going to have a baby and we will think about how it would feel to be Mary and Joseph.
Fill your week with joy and remember all of the wonderful things about the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Christmas Day is when we celebrate Jesus’ birth, all of the candles on our Advent Wreath will be lit, we give Christmas cards to each other and we might even be lucky enough to receive gifts!
Today you are going to make a special card for Jesus.
On the front you can draw your favourite part of the Nativity Story.
Inside you can write a prayer to Jesus or, you could make a promise of something that you are going to try really hard to do so that you can be more like Jesus.
You could pray that everyone gets what they need for Christmas this year or you might promise to help others, just like Jesus did.
Think really carefully about what you will write in your card to Jesus.

If you met someone on their birthday and you had to tell them what they need to know about life and the world, what advice would you give them?
Watch this video where the Kid President tells his new nephew what he thinks he needs to know.
Would you tell them about the hope, peace, joy and love at Christmas?
Share your ideas with your Class.
You might like to write this list down, draw pictures or even record a video of your own.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
(Glory to you O Lord.)
This was how the birth of Jesus Christ took place. His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married, she found out that she was going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit. Joseph was a man who always did what was right, but he did not want to disgrace Mary publicly; so he made plans to break the engagement privately. While he was thinking about this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived. She will have a son, and you will name him Jesus—because he will save his people from their sins.”
Now all this happened in order to make come true what the Lord had said through the prophet, “A virgin will become pregnant and have a son, and he will be called Immanuel” (which means, “God is with us”).
So when Joseph woke up, he married Mary, as the angel of the Lord had told him to.
The Gospel of the Lord.
(Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.)
Matthew 1: 18-24
How do you think Joseph felt when he found out that Mary was going to have a baby.
Read through the Scripture again and talk about how Mary and Joseph would have been feeling at the different parts of the story.
As you go through do some actions and faces to show how they might have felt.
