We are all part of a family – big families, small families, and most importantly… God’s family!
A family will always be there to love and support you, even when things go wrong.
We all have different families and we all play a different role in the families that we are a part of. It is important to remember that our differences are something good because if we were all the same, it just wouldn’t work!
Most importantly we must remember to work together, using all of our different strengths and talents, so that love is at the center of all our families.

What is the message in this song?
What does Simba try to teach his daughter?
This song tells us a lot about families. Even though sometimes things go wrong our families are still there “filled with hope and filled with pride” because they love us, no matter what.
It can be difficult when our plans change but our families are there to stand by us and to support us.
Think about what you would say (or sing!) to your family to let them know that you love them and support them.
Thank you Lord for giving us people to love and support us even when things don’t go as we have planned.
Help us to help our families and to support them too.

Look at this picture of a family.
All families are different. Some live very close together and others live far apart. Sometimes families talk all the time and do lots of activities together and other times they don’t see each other for a very long time but they are still part of the same family.
Think about what your family is like.
Who is in your family?
What do you do with your family?
Go and draw your family.
You might like to draw you and your family doing your favourite activity together or at your favourite place.
You might like to draw the people in your family in their favourite clothes or with their favourite things.
Thank you God for the families that we are a part of.
Help us to treasure our families and to show love to them.

Start by reading this scripture and think about what it means.
Christ is like a single body, which has many parts; it is still one body, even though it is made up of different parts. …God put every different part in the body just as he wanted it to be. There would not be a body if it were all only one part! As it is, there are many parts but one body.
(1 Corinthians 12: 12, 18-20)
This scripture from Saint Paul tells us that we are all part of God’s family. We may all be different but this is exactly what we need to be if we are going to be a successful family.
To make sure that we remember just how many parts there are to our bodies, sing the song “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” altogether!
Think about some of the things that you need to make a happy family.
The words from Saint Paul below might help!
You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity. The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful. Christ’s message in all its richness must live in your hearts. Teach and instruct one another with all wisdom. Sing psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing to God with thanksgiving in your hearts. Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father.
(Colossians 3: 12-17)
Sing the song “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” again but this time exchange the word “head” with one of the things that you said we need to have a happy family.
Sing the song again but this time swap “head” and “shoulders” for words that make a happy family.
Continue to swap the words until you have changed all the body parts for things that make a happy family!
As you sing the song that you have rewritten remember that we all must try our hardest to do the things that we are singing about so that we can all be happy as members of God’s family.

In this week’s video we are going to see a family working together and using all of their different talents to defeat the baddies who are chasing them.
Each member of The Incredibles family has a different strength. Sometimes that can make them feel a bit left out and different. There are times in the film when the daughter Violet does not feel very happy about being different because it makes her feel lonely. However, in this clip we see that when all the different members of a family work together and use all of their skills they can achieve something great.
In our families we are all different. We have different skills and we are interested in different things.
Think about what you are good at in your family.
What are the other members of your family good at or interested in?
As we can see from the video, although we are all different it means that we are even stronger when we work together because we are good at lots of things.
Think about how you can work with your family to do something great.
It could be something simple like making a meal together or something like writing a song together or making a video.
Talk to your family this week and see what you can achieve by bringing all the different things that you are good at and working together.

When we think about family we think about our parents, our brothers and sisters, our cousins, aunties and uncles, grandparents and all of our other relations.
But we are part of a much bigger family which stretches across the whole world – God’s family.
Jesus explains how we are all a part of God’s family in the scripture below.
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
(Glory to you O Lord)
Jesus was still talking to the people when his mother and brothers arrived. They stood outside, asking to speak with him. So one of the people there said to him, “Look, your mother and brothers are standing outside, and they want to speak with you.”
Jesus answered, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look! Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does what my Father in heaven wants is my brother, my sister, and my mother.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
(Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.)
Here Jesus explains that to be a part of God’s family we must try to follow what God has asked us to do – to love one another.
If we show love in our words and in our actions then we know that we are joining in with our big family of God and that we do not need to feel lonely or worried because we will always have a family there to love and support us.
Close your eyes and think about how you can show love in your words and in your actions.
Say a prayer to God and ask for help to show love to others.
