Our Word of the Week this week is
Inspire!
It is now the 2nd week of Ordinary Time
The word inspire means “filled with the spirit” and there are times when
all of us take inspiration from the events and people around us. St Paul
was inspired by a vision of Christ to change his ways and be a better
person on the road to Damascus – we too can be inspired by Christ to
change for the better. This week, think about how you can be
inspirational. How can you give others a great example or show others
how to live their lives in a better way?
Leader/Young person: “Good morning, let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.” All: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.” Today we have some examples of places and people we can find inspiration from in the Bible and in today’s society… Think of a gift or talent you have or something you enjoy doing. How can you use this gift to inspire others? This can be anything from being a good listener to being a talented musician or sportsperson. If you are an aspiring… These are just a few ideas. What are your talents and how are you going to use them to inspire those around you? God made each one of us unique, no one is the same. We are beautifully different. It’s not always the easiest thing to be ourselves, it’s often easier to follow the crowd. But if we have the confidence to be ourselves we inspire others to do the same. Let us know in the comments below which gifts you will be using this week to make a difference? Leader/Young person – “Let us bow our heads and pray together…” Heavenly Father, help us to use the gifts you have given us to do good and inspire others that they have the power and ability to do the same. May we appreciate and celebrate everyone’s differences and treat everyone with respect as we strive to build an equal and loving community. Amen. Leader/Young person: “We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.” All: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.” Inspire Act of Worship Leader/Young person: “Good morning, let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.” All: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.” On Sunday, the church celebrated Peace Sunday. The title Pope Francis has chosen for the 55th Message for the World Day of Peace is “Dialogue between Generations, Education, Work and Dialogue: Tools for Building Lasting Peace”. Download the powerpoint below and go through the different slides in your classes- whenever you spot a question, discuss what you think possible answers could be in your classes and if you have time complete the peace quiz near the end of the powerpoint! There’s lots of parts to read aloud so please volunteer and help your peers to learn more about peace. Your mission this week…
Peace Sunday Powerpoint
show us our place in this world as
channels of your love for all the
creatures of this earth, for not one of
them is forgotten in your sight.
Enlighten those who possess power and
money, that they may love the common
good, advance the weak, and care for
this world in which we live.
The poor and the earth are crying out.
O LORD, seize us with your power and
light, help us to protect all life, to
prepare for a better future, for the
coming of your Kingdom of justice,
peace, love and beauty.
AMEN.
Pope Francis (adapted from Laudato Si’)
