On Tuesday 18th July all of St Patrick’s School gathered at Our Lady and St Patrick’s Church in the Meadows to celebrate their final Mass of the School Year and to wave farewell to their Year 6 leavers. They began with an entrance procession of some of the items that have been important to them and then sang their hearts out all the way through the Mass. There were beautiful prayers, thoughtful reflections and even more fantastic singing!
After Communion Fr Philip blessed the new school crucifixes that will go up around the School in September. Mr Sullivan then came forward and officially presented Mr Benzie with an award from Bishop Patrick, the St Hugh of Lincoln award which was awarded a couple of weeks earlier during the Diocesan Bishop’s Day. Mr Benzie shared with the children what it had been like on his interview day for his job as Headteacher and showed them how the school had grown since he started working there. Mr Benzie then invited Mrs Atkinson forward and shared many fond memories of the great work that she has done for St Patrick’s School.
We wish all of those Staff and Students leaving St Patrick’s School this year a very happy and restful Summer and pray that they will be successful with whatever they go on to do in September!
