We can encounter God in everyone we meet. Mother Teresa once said that when we meet people we are meeting Jesus in disguise. So every encounter that we have with a person, we should treat it as an encounter with Jesus. Each encounter with someone is an opportunity to show your faith, but that’s the same for every time someone encounters you, you need to be able to show them how brightly the light of Christ burns in your life. Not an easy task, but one that Mother Teresa can help us understand through this phrase, ‘Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.

Adoration – a time when we gather before the Blessed Sacrament to watch and pray in the presence of Christ.

At the end of September last year, there was a huge Eucharistic Congress in Liverpool called ‘Adoremus’. Catholics from all over the UK gathered to celebrate the opportunity that we have to encounter Christ in the Eucharist – the consecrated hosts that have become the Body of Christ.

This video shows what some of the Briars Team, and some other familiar faces, got up to at the Youth Eucharistic Congress. Watch out for Jo Boyce, the lead singer in CJM who wrote the song that we use in many of our Masses and Liturgies in school, the Magnificat!

When we follow Jesus’ teachings, our actions allow others to encounter Jesus.

You have each been given a heart.  In your heart, write and action or an act of kindess that you can perform to show others that they have enountered Christ. This could be anything from helping out at home, picking up litter, voluteering at a local care home or helping someone with their home work.

  1. Use a felt tip and write neatly, these will be used in a large school display.
  2. Once you have written on your heart, CUT IT OUT!!  Return to your form tutor who will place it in the envelope provided and return to Vicki 🙂
