This weeks word of the week is DISCIPLESHIP!

Choose from the tabs below for something to do, or mix and match if you want to!

There are enough things to do – one for every day if you so wish.

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

This short video is perfect to gain a understanding of what discipleship is.

This video is a bit longer, but is a really great watch! It’s been created by a Christian Church, not a Catholic one, but it explains in detail and yet simply what it means to be a disciple.

We end by making the Sign of the Cross.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

R:/ Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus drew near and said to them, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.”

The Gospel of the Lord

R:/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

This short piece of scripture is incredibly well known, but as it’s so common we often skim over it and don’t actually spend the time reflecting and focusing on it that we should. Spend some time today picking apart the scripture, what does it mean, what words stand out to you, how would you feel if you were there and heard Jesus say those words?

You might have heard this song before, but it’s so good that we just had to put it in! The song is called Testify and is by a band called NEEDTOBREATHE. Discipleship is all about witnessing Christ and then spreading that love and the word of God, and testifying to the truth and the Good News is exactly what we should do.

This second song is also relevant to Discipleship. It’s all about following Christ, exactly what we are called to do as disciples. It’s by Chris Tomlin, a great artist, why not have a listen?

As disciples it is our job to spread the Word of God, but this can feel like a difficult task when we are stuck inside at home. However, this is where those windows in your houses come in handy again! Why not create a poster with a prayer on, or talking about how you are praying for/thinking of everyone struggling at the moment? You can stick them in your window for everyone to see, and you never know how that might help somebody just when they need it most.
