Right judgement is another gift
of the Holy Spirit and sometimes
we call it our conscience. That
little voice inside of us that tells
us when we’re going wrong or
making the wrong decisions. The
Holy Spirit can guide us in our lives
if we let it and it can help us make
the right choice when are faced
with a difficult path.
What do you need to make a
decision about this week and how
can the Holy Spirit help you use right

We start our prayer with the sign of the cross…

This week we are thinking about decisions. It can be very difficult to make the right choice, or even to know what the right choice is!

We can always turn to God for help with the decisions we make. Even if we make a bad choice and do the wrong thing God will still love us and will always forgive us when we say sorry.

Listen carefully to this song from the Disney film Pinocchio.

Think about the advice that his friend gives him about how to make good choices.

Pinocchio isn’t sure how to be a good boy and how to make the right choices so Jiminy Cricket tells him to always let his conscience be his guide.

We can’t whistle for Jiminy Cricket to tell us what to do to make the right choice but in the Bible there are lots of things that teach us how to be good people and how to make the right choices. In the book of Proverbs (in the Old Testament) there is this advice:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the Lord and refuse to do wrong. If you do, it will be like good medicine, healing your wounds and easing your pains.

(Proverbs 3: 5-8)

If we need help making decisions turn to God and ask Him to guide you.

What advice would you give others who are making a difficult decision? Comments below 🙂

It might seem like lock down is done – but is our mission as a Church?

paths editWhich Path do you think the man should choose?

Where do you think the paths lead to?

What are the choices you face now in your life? Where would the paths lead if you were the person in the picture?

What words of wisdom would guide you in your choices so that you follow the right path?

Think about the words you would say to someone to help them if they had to make a difficult choice. The prophet Isaiah reassured the people of Jerusalem saying:

If you wander off the road to the right or the left, you will hear a voice behind you saying, “Here is the road. Follow it.”

(Isaiah 30:21)

If we make the wrong choices and take the wrong path then we can always turn to God for help to guide us once again.

Think about the choices that you would make in this situation.

Would you offer the cookies to your friend?

Which bag of cookies would you choose?

Would you break up your cookie to make your friend feel better?

Would you say thank you if your friend gave you a gift?

We all have lots of choices to make everyday, even if they are small decisions we should always try to make the right choice and to care for our friends. When people make the wrong decision we have to decide whether to forgive them and whether to help them.

As Saint Paul wrote to the Thessalonians:

“See that no one pays back wrong for wrong, but at all times make it your aim to do good to one another and to all people.”

(1 Thessalonians 5: 15)

Try to make the right choices during this week and remember to do good to all people.
