The word of the week is Wisdom!

12th week of Ordinary Time

Liturgical Colour: Green

When we put knowledge and understanding together we gain wisdom. Wisdom comes from experience and learning from our mistakes – it takes time! Think about the people in your life who are wise, what can you learn from them? How can you use the experiences you’ve had in the past to help you make wise decisions in the future?

Welcome back everyone!

Monday of week 12th week in Ordinary Time and the feast day of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, Religious

Leader/Young person: Let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Discuss and Comment:

Who do you think is wise?

Why do you think a certain person is wise?

What is the best bit of advice you were ever given?

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

God of wisdom and mercy, I ask for your knowledge and guidance. Please grant me the wisdom I need to see your divine plan in all that I do. May I sift through each gem I read to discover more of your divine treasure and kingdom. I ask for wisdom, not for fame and fortune, but to seek faith and love. Guide my path as I strive to find your truths in this world. May I drink of your word and be an example of your love to others. May your wisdom, faith and hope brighten all of the hearts I encounter in this life. Amen.

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Tuesday of week 12th week in Ordinary Time and feast day of SAINTS JOHN FISHER, BISHOP, AND
THOMAS MORE, MARTYRS

Leader/Young person: Let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

The gift of Wisdom helps us to see the bigger picture, to understand that our relationship with God, as well as the people around us, is more important than material things and money. It helps
us to see that, even when bad things happen, God is there and that good can come out of it. It helps us to concentrate on growing closer to God, rather than growing a large following on Twitter or Instagram or being the most popular person on the playground!

Which mission will you try this week at home and why? Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments box below 🙂

Could you make some God glasses to see the world how God sees it and to see people around you as God sees them?

Who will you write a letter to or draw a picture for?

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you,
a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you,
conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance
in waiting for you, and a hope of finally
embracing you. Amen.
St Thomas Aquinas

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Wednesday of week 12th in Ordinary Time

“Fear of the Lord is the
foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and
discipline.” – Proverbs 1:7

Yesterday you were tasked with a mission to make God glasses at home. Have you been seeing the world a little differently?

Discuss and Comment:

Why should we try to be wise and see the world as God does?

How would the world be different if we all wore ‘God glasses’?

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before you to ask for your wisdom and mercy. Make our loves like an open book that is filled with stories of your love and mercy. No matter what we do during the day, we ask that we will hear your voice guiding us along the right path. We trust that you will always help us to see the path ahead. May all of our decisions and choices be guided by your will. We ask for your protection along the way. Reveal what we must do and all the things we must see along this journey in our lives. Amen.

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thursday of week 12th in Ordinary Time and the birthday of St. John the Baptist

Leader/Young person: Let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

‘it is the grace of being able to see
everything with the eyes of God.’
‘Wisdom is what the Holy Spirit works in us so as
to enable us to see things with the eyes of God.
This is the gift of wisdom.’
Pope Francis, General Audience, Wednesday, 9 April 2014,

We have been thinking a lot of the ‘Holy Spirit’ otherwise known as God’s personal spirit. Although we often link the Holy Spirit to Pentecost but actually, the spirit has been empowering people for a very long time!

Discuss and Comment:

How can we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us?

If someone were to ask you to describe what the Holy Spirit was, how would you describe it.  In your classes come up with a definition for the Holy Spirit!

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

O Lord, you are my compass that guides me to salvation. On every journey, you are the voice that guides me and supports me. Within my heart, you reign supreme. You lead me along the path of the righteous, even when the path is dim in this world. Your truth lights my soul so that I may see right from wrong. You are the lighthouse that guides me through the stormy sea and protects me from jagged rocks. Because of your strength, I do not fear the path ahead of me. I pray that you will give me the strength and wisdom I need to always walk in your way. Amen.

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Friday of week 12th in Ordinary Time

Leader/Young person: Let us start our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Leader/Young person – Let us Pray together:

Lord, I struggle to find the right path ahead of me. I pray that you will move the Holy Spirit to guide me in this life. I know that my sins can diminish the voice of the Holy Spirit within my soul. Please protect me from temptation so that I can hear your voice. Help me to crave to grow closer to you and to grow closer to yourself. I pray that you will guide me with your spirit so that I may grow closer to yourself. Through your wisdom, keep me free from sin and guide me to your everlasting kingdom. Amen.

Leader/Young person: We end our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross.

All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
