Global climate change poses one of the greatest threats to mankind’s security. Years and years of continuous fossil fuel use has exploited our planet and amplified the greenhouse effect. Today, the amount of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane is so great that the Earth is now trapping more heat energy from the Sun than before. This has not only resulted in extreme weather changes but food production and the animal kingdom have also been devastated. It is often those people in developing countries who have to compensate for the greedy consumption of MEDCs. Consequences include those such as endangering species that people in these countries rely on and unreliable crop production meaning that subsistent farmers cannot feed themselves and their families. As Christians, we are called to help those who are less fortunate than us, requiring us to share the “riches” we have with others. In Genesis we see that God appoints humans to become stewards of his creation. As stewards, we are called to care for the world in which we live in so that it can be passed on to the next generation. One way in which we can help is by sharing the resources equally among LEDCs without causing pollution. Furthermore, by leaving the Earth to the next generation by reducing pollution and preserving non-renewable resources.  We must always remember that at the end of our lives we are not only judged on our faith but how far we have fulfilled our duties as stewards of the Earth. While we dwell on this Earth, we must always fight to keep our environment the best we can.
