This week’s theme is Challenge

How often do we accept the challenges from God and follow Jesus? As Christians, we face many challenges along our faith journey and we can look to the inner strength that is given to us by God to meet those challenges head on like the saints we look at this week. Think this week about the challenges you face and who you can ask for help.

Remember to comment in the comments box below and let us know what you want to see on the prayer resources 🙂

Start your time of prayer by making the sign of the cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

So many charities help people overcome challenges each day. Have a look at this video of the work the charity UNICEF do in Madagascar, helping local children.

What challenges have they helped these children over come? How can we still help charities during these difficult times?

Loads of us have been loving the Tik Tok challenges during lock downs, learning the dances in particular.

Take a look at this compilation of our fantastic NHS workers doing the ‘Oh Na Na Na Challenge.’

Why not give it a go with some of your family at home and then have a think about some challenges you have faced during these challenging times.

How have you overcome them?

Over the next two days we will look at some praise and worship music to see how these words can get us through challenging times.

Do you think there is power in music? Have you ever felt that a songs describes perfectly what you are going through or offered the word’s you needed to hear to over come challenges?

Our first suggestion is a beautiful and simple song. The song repeats the same lyrics multiple times (and so is fairly easy to pick up if you want to learn it!) but those lyrics have such deep and heartfelt meaning. It’s all about God’s love, and how it surrounds us when we are facing our challenges.

Continuing with our ‘Praise and Worship’ theme.

Our second song is by Elevation Worship and is called Overcome. Need we say more about it’s link to challenges?

Yesterday we talked about how music can help us overcome our own challenges.  Sometimes we need to be the support that helps others overcome their challenges.  What can you do to show others you support them?

We’ve looked a lot at music this week.  What is your ‘fight song’. What gives you the drive overcome your challenges?  It could be a person, an activity, a sport.

Some times it can feel difficult to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and carry on.  With God’s love and your perseverance, you can do anything!

Dear God,

I know You are always with me. I can never stray beyond Your tender care. You are omnipresent. I carry Your protecting presence with me wherever I am, no matter what challenge I have to meet. You are with me. Your presence is my help in every need, it is my wisdom, and my strength. You are in charge of my life. You are my peace and my safety.
Amen
