Care is something so simple, yet so complicated. Something so easy, yet so difficult. Something we all need, yet find it hard to give.
Care is the simplicity of our faith, because it is about the other through using what we have. If we have love, we care for our neighbour and share that love. If we can forgive, then we forgive a friend who has done us wrong. When we pray, we pray for others as well as ourselves.
Care is something which is so big, yet simply is about loving, forgiving and praying for your neighbour.
How will you care for your neighbour this week?

THE YEAR OF THE WORD

Collective Worship: Lectio Divina

This prayer introduces students to the power and beauty of the Scriptures, in which God speaks plainly to our hearts through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Lectio Divina literally translates as “divine reading”. It is a way of developing a closer relationship with God by reflecting prayerfully on His words. And this is done in five simple steps or the 5 R’s.

  1. Ready

Take a moment to get ready for prayer.

– Pick a piece of scripture

– Light a candle

– Shut the blinds and close your eyes

– Play some calming music

  1. LECTIO – Read

Read the scripture for the first time.

Are there any words or phrases that impact you?

  1. MEDITATIO – Reflect

Read the scripture for a second time.

What is the message that God is trying to say to us?

  1. ORATIO – Respond

Read the scripture for a third time.

How am I going to respond to God’s message?

  1. CONTEMPLATIO – Rest

Read the scripture for a fourth time.

Spend a moment contemplating and allow God to work in you.

God show He cares for us through simple actions, but on levels that we cannot even begin to reason or understand. Listen to the lyrics of this song. See how much God cares for us. Listen to what He does for us on a daily basis. Take heart from the fact that there are no limits to His care of us. His care is never ending and is always there. But how often do we forget that? Listen to the song and know that God is caring for you today and always.
