This week we’re thinking about the word

AWESOME!

As they say in the LEGO Movie, “Everything is awesome, when you’re part of a team” and what better team to be in than God’s team? Being a part of his family is definitely awesome, and we are able to experience the gift of awe and wonder through the Holy Spirit. The Trinity Year 10 Chaplaincy Team have demonstrated how awesome they are by creating our resources for this week, so a huge thank you to them!
How will you be awesome this week?

We begin with the Sign of the Cross.

Today our Word of the Week video comes from the Year 8 Chaplaincy Team here at The Trinity School.

Have a think about these questions and let us know in the comments your thoughts as a form!

What makes you awesome?

Tell the person next to you why they are awesome!

What makes our faith awesome?

Let us pray:

Dear Lord,

This week we ask that you remind us of your awesome power and majesty. Inspire in us the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and ignite the fire of our faith.

Amen.

Today we’re going to listen to a song called My God is Awesome. We want you to listen to the lyrics and reflect on what they mean to you. There’s a few reflection points below that you can think about if you want to:

What makes God awesome to you?

Where do you see God’s awesome power in your life?

We end with the Sign of the Cross.

The word awesome links nicely to the Holy Spirit, and that gift of awe and wonder. It is all about knowing that God deserves our absolute trust and commitment and our belief in God and his infinite wisdom and power. We stand in awe before Him, knowing that His plan is far bigger than anything we can ever see and understand, but knowing that He will keep us safe and inspire our lives. In silence, spend some time thinking about the incredible moments in your life, the things that you are amazed by, the places that you have been and the people that you have meet. Where are you awestruck and full of wonder? Use the questions below to inform your reflection. Sometimes we can be so distracted by the world and noise around us that we forget to wonder at God’s marvels right in front of our eyes. After you have spent some time in silence, finish with the prayer below.

  1. How has God shown his awesomeness to you this week?
  2. What can you do to be more like Christ?
  3. Do you think we have an awesome God?
  4. Why do you think God created what we have?

Dear Lord,

We are so in awe of your wonder, your majesty and your power. Help us to strive to be closer to you daily, even when we cannot understand the path that you set us, to allow us to focus on your never-ending love for us.

Amen.

God demonstrates his awesomeness through healing his people. He made the blind see. He made the crippled walk . His power and awesomeness cannot be compared to man, nor can it be challenged. Today we would like you to watch this video of Jesus healing a blind man – this resembles God’s awesomeness.
