Prayer Resources – Determination

Both GCSE’s and A Levels start this week and it’s a reminder for us all to keep going and keep working hard. It’s also a reminder that with determination and hard work we can achieve anything.

Jesus showed us we should never to give up and to trust in God and this week we need to think about how we can keep going and stay strong. How can we help each other to find the strength to face the road ahead with determination?

Determination if often about the little things day by day that help us grow and better ourselves. Have a thing for a few moments in silence about something you want to achieve and instead of thinking big think about something little you can do every day to achieve it.

Lord, help us to be determined and achieve our goals. Amen

We’re moving on to a new topic in our PSHCE this half term – This is a chance to explore what it means to do the right thing and the consequences when we don’t. It’s an opportunity to explore the legal system and how we make decisions as part of a democracy. An opportunity to explore what it means to be fair and how to affect situations where this is not the case.

Use the Key ‘RolePlay’ to explore the following scenario:

A young person is accused of doing something wrong even though they are innocent.

Think about the different people who would be supportive/unsupportive in that situation – how might the young person in the story move forward?

Lord, help us to listen to our conscience and by guided by our faith. Amen.

NEXT STEPSWe begin with the Sign of the Cross

As you know, we are going to use the Scripture from this Sunday’s Gospel to reflect on every Friday. If you are in KS 3/4 You can use your planners to to help you understand the scripture.

This year we want to bring the Word of God to life on a Friday morning to help us reflect and understand scripture a little bit better, so with the help of our school community a different person each week will read our Gospel and share what it means to them. Use your planners to help you discuss and explore the story further.

John 14: 2-3

There are many rooms in my Father’s house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am.

How do you imagine the ‘Father’s House’ and what rooms do you imagine being there? How do you prepare yourself when you go somewhere new or do something for the first time?

Lord, help us to listen to and follow your word. Amen.
