6th Form Prayer Resources – Learning

(The 6th form Prayer Resources are a bit different to the lower school ones. While you’ll be looking at the same Word of the Week, you’re focus will be different and often a bit more challenging. It’ll work best if you as a form come back to the discussion topics every day and leave comments to move the discussion forward. They’ll be a debate of the week too on the left and you can vote as a form and leave your sore on the right.)

We come to school to learn, but we learn so much more than you can ever find in a text book.

We learn how to live and grow as people, we learn about Jesus and we learn about ourselves. Think about the biggest lessons you’ve learnt in your life and how you’ve changed because of them. What could you learn this week about your faith?

Last week we heard about plans to introduce Grammar schools – something Catholic Education does not support. Should people be judged on ability – will it help the brightest to achieve better? What should learning be about in schools?

This week we’ll be filming the new school music video. It’s great to have 6th form involved as it really inspires the other students in the school. Watch the Video below and see if you can learn some new dance moves for the video!

6th form is a great chance to learn more about yourself. Through it’s many experiences you can really find out about who and what you are. You can also learn about our faith, regardless of what you believe. One experience that really puts into perspective is the Lourdes trip. Learn a bit more about it below with this video from the Youth Service. Don’t forget deposits are in by the end of next week and you can get letters from the Chapel.

PSHCE

We begin with the Sign of the Cross

This whole term is about Being Yourself. It’s about celebrating identity and personality. It’s about seeing the glory of God reflected in each individual. It’s about respecting people for who they are and not judging others for being different.

This week use the Key Process of “Expert Groups” to explore how you learn new things.

Watch the video below and think about which type of learner you are.

If time allows, split into learning style groups (one group for each style) depending on what you think you are.

If you think you may be more than one, choose the strongest. Discuss in your groups what you can do to learn better!

Lord, help us to see you in others and ourselves. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross

Scripture Reflection

NEXT STEPSWe begin with the Sign of the Cross

As you know, we are going to use the Scripture from this Sunday’s Gospel to reflect on every Friday. If you are in KS 3/4 You can use your planners to to help you understand the scripture.

This year we want to bring the Word of God to life on a Friday morning to help us reflect and understand scripture a little bit better, so with the help of our school community a different person each week will read our Gospel and share what it means to them. Use your planners to help you discuss and explore the story further.

Luke 15: 24
“For this son of mine was dead, but now he is alive; he was lost, but now he has been found.’ And so the feasting began.”
Learning to forgive is difficult, is there anyone that you need to forgive or anyone that you need to apologise to? How will you celebrate and move on after you have sorted out any disagreements?

Lord, help us to listen to and follow your word. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.
